    Hey!
I work with several websites and this time, for a new WordPress site (https://aprende-finanzas.com/), I tried cloning an existing one (https://clubdeceramica.com/) on my hosting (Cloudways) and then changing the domain and DNS records accordingly to avoid creating a new page from scratch. Of course, the design, information and plugins of the existing site were cloned to the new site. Everything seemed to work fine until I checked Google Site Kit on both sites where I got the following error message:

    google_api_connection_fail
Es posible que tu sitio no esté preparado para Site Kit
Parece que tu sitio está teniendo un problema técnico con la recuperación de datos de los servicios de Google.

If I try to set up again Google Site Kit on clubdeceramica.com, it redirects to the configuration page of the property aprende-finanzas.com and not the original. I tried deleting the plugin on both sites and re-installing it but the issue continues.

Any advice on what should I do? I really appreciate your help with this issue!

Hello @anamaria21 Thanks for getting in touch. As you cloned https://aprende-finanzas.com/ while Site Kit was connected can please share the following and we can advise on this further:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. Before you cloned your site was Site Kit working as expected, with the dashboards displaying data?

If you didn’t perform a site reset before cloning your site you can do so now and see if the same error occurs (Tools > Available Tools > Reset Site Kit). This will clear any old URL records on the Site Kit service.

Note that after you reset Site Kit you and any other connected administrators will need to follow the setup process once more, before then connecting the previously connected modules.

    Hello Adam.
To answer the 2nd question, before I cloned the site Site Kit was working fine. But with my team we managed to solve it, the administrator of the properties was able to do the setup process again and now it works. I will take into account your advice on resetting Google site kit before cloning a site.
    Thanks for your help!

@anamaria21 Many thanks for sharing the additional information. Glad you were able to resolve it. Resetting the plugin can indeed reset all site records, ensure you’re not longer redirected to an old previously connected URL (associated with your old site URL). Just be aware that resetting the plugin will result in all previously connected modules becoming disconnected for all users.

If you have any further queries going forward be sure to get in touch by opening a support topic. As it sounds like you’ve been using Site Kit for a while be sure to also share your plugin feedback.
