    Hi,
I just received an error message from google search console that’s got me a little stumped. For one specific page on which there’s an expired job, search console sent this message: “JobPosting markup used on an expired job with the validThrough property set in the past” saying it is a policy violation.

My understanding is that they’re saying as it’s expired it’s no longer a valid job posting. But I have hundreds of these so I don’t quite know why this one is the only one I got a message about. By the way, the reason I keep expired pages up but with the job content replaced by a ‘this listing has expired’ mention is so that users can find related job postings rather than be redirected to an arbitrary page.

Checking the page source does not even show a validThrough property in there at all so I wouldn’t know how to change it anyways.

So, do you know what I should do to fix that? and also, does this error actually hurt my site in any way? it seems that the consequence is simply that this particular job won’t be indexed in google jobs which is fine, but if it’s going to hurt my overall SEO then I’d like to do something about it.

I’d appreciate your opinion on this,
    thank you!

Would you mind contacting us in support, referencing this thread, so we can take a look at your site? Let us know the link to the page where we can see the expired job.

It’s a strange issue for sure.
