    Hi,

I use ads pro, Great plugin but when it comes to tracking html5, It’s not possible because it only records the impression And they don’t have an option to use google analytics for tracking. I read the documentation of your ad tracking addon. I would like know, Since i am using google tag manager and able to track just about everything that goes on in my site, Does your tracking addon record ‘plays’ from my youtube and html5 videos? On my analytics dashboard i am able to see everything, links that were click, videos that were played, When they were started. So basically what i’m asking is, Can the ‘plays’ be counted by your plugin as clicks? I don’t see any any purpose of having the ability to sell html5 ad spaces if all an advertiser will know is that their video ad was ‘seen’ not viewed, meaning played.

    Regards
    bonga

    Hi 9march,

    Thanks for reaching out.

when it comes to tracking html5, It’s not possible because it only records the impression And they don’t have an option to use google analytics for tracking

Yes, the tracking add-on needs a clear target URL to work. Otherwise, only impressions will be recorded.

Since i am using google tag manager and able to track just about everything that goes on in my site

Maybe you can modify your ad codes and add tags from Google Tag Manager. For the start, you can find here a manual of how to track HTML5 videos with GTM. Please, use the “plain text and code” ad type for it and use the “custom code” field if you want to add some code in addition to your ad code.

Does your tracking addon record ‘plays’ from my youtube and html5 videos?

    Nope, unfortunately not.

Can the ‘plays’ be counted by your plugin as clicks?

Nope, this is currently not supported by Advanced Ads. I want kindly ask you to put this idea on our feature requests list.

Your thread refers to the Tracking Ads add-on. This moderated forum is only for the support of the basic version of Advanced Ads. If you need any further assistance with one of the Pro add-ons, I want kindly ask you to open a new ticket here. In this case, I would appreciate if you could send a link to this thread with your email.

    Thanks and best regards,
    Joachim
