Issue: Elementor editor will not work unless in Safe Mode
    Cause: Google Tag Manager script

We have discovered that the Google Tag Manager script in our header is causing Elementor’s editor to not function unless it is in Safe Mode.

As soon as we remove the GTM script from the header, Elementor works as expected.

We tried removing the code and using Site Kit to manage the tags, but unfortunately that plugin also caused the same conflict with Elementor.

Please advise if there is a workaround to get Tag Manager and Elementor to function together correctly as permanently removing the script is not an option.

  • Hello,

Kindly perform the below troubleshooting steps, and feel free to skip what you already tried:

To rule out the possibility of a plugin or theme conflict, please deactivate all your plugins (besides Elementor & Elementor Pro) and see if it helps. If it solves the issue reactivate them one by one to find the culprit. If it didn’t help, switch your theme (temporarily) and see if it makes any difference.

Please also regenerate the CSS via Elementor > Tools > Regenerate CSS on your WordPress Dashboard, then make sure that you clear:

your WP cache (your WP plugin if you have one),
your server cache (if you have one. In this case, you can contact your hosting provider),
    and your browser cache.
