Hi I have been going through some posts on how to insert the google site verification file to my site.
Some of the posts are about 2 years old and mention the meta tag file but google webmaster gives you a html file and thats where I am stuck i did download the google and bing webmaster verify plugins but they dont work for both plus bing gives you a meta file and I have folowed the instructions on how to insert the bing meta file in the head before the body but again no luck.

So can anyone help here also please be gentle as I am looking for simple instructions so no offence please do not post assuming I know everything

  • If you go the HTML file route (which I did with my blog), you just upload the google(letters-and-numbers).html file to the root directory of the blog (same directory that wp-login.php is). Google will then see the file there.

Use an FTP program or File Manager that your webhost provides.
