• I’ll admit it’s only been a couple days since I put it up, and I don’t expect miracles. But I simply can’t find my blog anywhere on google, even outright searching its title. Does this have something to do with the name of the blog (luminousnerd) being seperate from the domain (www.thefuriouspc.com)? Would it do me any good to purchase the domain luminousnerd.com and redirect it?

Also, do you see anything wrong with my meta info? Since it’s all through PHP I’m not so good with it…I did change the title, because I know Google looks at that a lot.

What else can I do to get myself googlable?

    Thanks a ton ??

  • Well, I understand frustration. But text-only makes it hard to “read”, y’know?

Now, I’ve had the following experiences with google:

    1. Site with tons of backlinks from inception but fairly static content; didn’t show up for MONTHS, even doing a site: search.
    2. Site with zero backlinks, updated with new content several times a day; jumped to #5 in the serps within 2 weeks.

In other words, it’s a crapshoot. Just try to be a bit patient, and don’t spend hours haunting the returns…. One thing I DO know is that your content needs to be not only fresh but relevant. And a niche doesn’t hurt.

Worrying about Google is like watching a pot that you are waiting for to boil. Fruitless, and Google will find you, just like the pot will inevitably boil..

Secondly, while it’s nice to think youre being read.. being in Google doesnt insure that, unless you have content that someone is interested in, once they happen to see you in Google.

If you really want to increase your hits, code something, anything. People like things they can use. People link to things that they use, and they talk about them. It’s helped me immensely.

And in the meantime, like everyone else has said.. be patient.

Well, I have a few niches…if that’s possible. I stick to the stuff I know and am good at, which tends to be technology/gadgets, legalization of marijuana, and literature. I also blog about my frogs, but the content generally focuses around computers.

But I believe that if I were found in Google, people would read my blog. I think there are plenty of people interested in this kind of stuff. I really want people to read it…do you have any suggestions other than Google?

I’m into Flash, but I’m hopeless with PHP and things like that. I’m a visual person, and though I’ve tried many times to learn PHP, I keep failing. ?? So do you think I should make a funny movie or something and get people to link to it? Or a Flash application that does something useful? :/ I’m not sure what you mean here exactly.

And I can understand that pacience is necesarry to some degree. But businesses rise and fall in days. I don’t have a whole lot into this, but the idea is that some businesses would go out of business if they couldn’t get indexed by major search engines quickly enough. There has to be a way.

Thanks for your advice, I appreciate it.

I mean .. if you have a talent, use it ?? thats all ..

Hang in there.. Google will come ’round.
