GPDR opt-in

When someone is added to the mailchimp mailing list using this plugin, it should be possible to opt-in for the GDPR compliance. However, this is not possible at checkout and the person also does not receive a confirmation mail with instructions to opt-in at their mailchimp profile (double opt-in). How can this be solved?
