    Hi,

I can’t seem to find out why my GPX files are not displaying with the Map.

I can display a Marker and map. I have tried several GPX files created by OS Maps

The code I have entered in my post is
    [osmap gpx=”https://shareyourroute.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/2Stoke.gpx”%5D

This short code on the same page works fine
    [osmap markers=”SU9807486397!red”]

I am using the latest released version 1.0.8 of OS DataHub Maps

    Where am I going wrong?

I look forward to hearing from you.

I downloaded that GPX file and uploaded it to my test site and it works fine for me. Check your shortcode for errors, like curly quotes or anything that isn’t standard ASCII characters. The WordPress shortcode parser is picky about how you supply the attributes.

I am sure it has nothing to do with curly quotes as I typed both osmap markers and osmap gpx within wordpress. The code for markers worked fine while the gpx code didn’t.

I have now discovered that if the first code is gpx and the second code line is markers it displays correctly. But not the other way round as I had it before.

However if I take the markers line of code off the page then again the gpx code doesn’t display. It means that I have to have two maps on the page.

I have tried all sorts of combinations now and there doesn’t seem to be any reason why sometimes the gpx line of code displays or doesn’t display. Currently it’s failing to work. The osmap markers always displays correctly.

    Any further thoughts?

It works on my site with a single map:
    [osmap gpx=”https://test1873.skirridsystems.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2Stoke.gpx”%5D
    https://skirridsystems.co.uk/wordpress-plugins/gpx-test/

Can you provide a URL? Without that I can only guess.

    Hi

    Here is the URL

I look forward to finding out where I have gone wrong.

My guess is that it’s a conflict with the Waymark maps plugin, which is adding all its Javascript files even though there is no waymark map on that page. Both plugins use Leaflet maps and the same GPX reader. You could try disabling Waymark Maps temporarily to see if that fixes the OS maps problem. It’s not a fix but it would confirm a theory.

I don’t know how I can temporarily disable Waymark without deactivating it, which I’m afraid will lose all the maps Waymark maps I already have on the site.

    Is there another way?

If the plugin is written correctly then deactivating it shouldn’t delete the data. Only deleting the plugin should do that. But that’s no guarantee of course. Does your hosting offer you the ability to create a staging site?

I have just installed and activated Waymark on my test site and I can confirm that maps with GPX tracks no longer display in DataHub maps, even though I have no Waymark maps defined.

I think your best bet is to raise this with the author of the Waymark plugin.

Thanks for your thoughts. I’ll do a back up and then deactivate and see what happens.
