• Hi, I’ve been experimenting with using Waymark on my forthcoming WordPress site. It has a focus on indoor cycling and virtual rides. I am looking at using Waymark to display route maps on the virtual course with elevation. I love the fact that I can see the elevation underneath the map however it would be really useful if the gradient value could be displayed. Is gradient values on the roadmap?

    Hi @jamespaulphoto,

Thanks for reaching out, sounds like an interesting project!

With gradients, would you like this information displayed as a percentage value displayed on the elevation chart itself? For certain/all parts of a Line? I’m not sure how it could be determined which part of a Line the gradient is being displayed for… I’m guessing you would mainly be interested in displaying steep gradients or gradients over a certain amount?

The plugin Waymark uses for displaying elevation does not seem to support gradients and honestly even if it did this would probably be quite a bit of work to integrate. So I can’t see this feature being added any time soon.

There have been other elevation requests however, so I will keep this in mind for the future because I definitely want to improve the Elevation features.

    Thanks for the feedback ??

    Cheers,

    Joe

Thank you for the reply, appreciate it. I would love it to display on the elevation graph with the distance and elevation data so when you scroll across the elevation graph you see all 3 pieces of data (sort of like Veloviewer). I create the route using OS Maps then use a product called GPX Magic to refine the route. This is then imported into RGT which is an indoor cycling training app. RGT must perform a calculation using the long/lat data with elevation information as it displays the gradient and then pushes that to a device called KICKR Climb which raises the height of the bikes front wheel. All pretty cool. My hope is to display that on screen before a rider decides they want to ride this route within RGT. Cyclists love knowing the gradient of the ride before they do it.
