Hello, apologies if I’m being dense, but I’ve read through your documentation and tested this every way I can think of… I cannot seem to change the permissions of any of my menu items to allow “editor” users access to things. So for example, if a menu item’s required capability is set to “manage_options” – if I add “edit_others_pages” under extra capability, in theory that should give editors access to that menu item, am I understanding the process correctly? Thanks in advance…

Unfortunately, you generally can’t do that kind of thing in the free version. It can only restrict access to menu items. If you want to give a role access to something, you would need the Pro version (or maybe a different plugin).

As for the “extra capability” field: it essentially acts as an additional (“extra”) requirement for accessing the menu item. For example, if the required capability is “manage_options” and you set the extra capability to “edit_others_pages”, the user will need to have both of those capabilities to access the menu item. Users/roles who only have the “edit_others_pages” capability won’t be able to access it.

Ah! I see, thank you for clarifying. It makes sense now. Thanks!
