• Hello,
We have a restricted admin role setup only granting access to specific sections in the WP admin. I’m using the Members plugin to accomplish this.

I have granted this specific role full access to the users section (with the exception of being able to delete users); however, in our testing, the role is not granted access to the Avatar section for each user.

When I edit the role, I do not see a capability that will handle this so I’m assuming I will need to enter in a custom capability. Do you have an idea of what I would need to enter in order to grant this role access to the avatar section?

    Thank you.

  • What do you mean that the role isn’t granted access to the Avatar section? The section isn’t there? It’s there but you’re unable to change the avatar?

As an administrator, I can see and edit the user’s avatar. As a restricted administrator (i.e. assigned a custom role), I am unable to see it.

Here’s a link to the plugin’s screenshot showing you the permissions page: https://s.w.org/plugins/members/screenshot-3.png?r=879755

Basically, the avatar section is not listed for me as an option so I’m assuming I would need to add it as a custom capability using the field that is displayed at the bottom of the screen shot.

    Does that help?

I think the role should have the edit_users capability.

Apologies for the confusion. That screen shot was a sample from the Plugin Directory.

I have enabled the edit_users capability for the role.

Any idea on how i should proceed? If you have some ideas on what custom capability I would need to enter, please pass them along and I will test them out.

    Thank you.

You should only need to have the edit_users capability. You added it and there’s still the problem?

No it’s really strange. Admins see the Avatar fine so I know there’s nothing wrong with the plugin.

There could be something corrupted about the special admin role you created. I would create the role again and add all of the capabilities based on the chart on this page: Roles and Capabilities, minus the capabilities that you’re certain that you don’t want the role to have. My plugin doesn’t make any modifications to capabilities for Administrators.
