    Works in progress.
    For people new to WP / CSS – is this helpful ? Too much / little information ? Is it clear enough ? How could it be improved ?
    For people who know more than me (and that’s a lot of you!) – what have I missed ? what errors have crept in ? (I know they are there)
    I plan on doing one for the header, one for the footer. I was thinking of doing one for the overall div layout, but I’m not entirely sure.
    The ‘target audience’ would be someone who is unsure of CSS but who wants to make basic cosmetic changes to their page. It does crossover to an extent with the CSS guide that NM wrote, but the front page to what I am doing says to read his guide in conjunction with it.
    (I went to add this as a Wiki page but I completely forgot how to do it, so I wandered here instead).
    Validation issues will be sorted before the pages are finalised – the tags are there purely as part of the template right now.
    Feel free to email me with any suggestions too

    If, from a default install, you want your menu column on the left, the tutorial now covers it.
    The principles are the same though for any CSS, so it can be done for other styles I guess.
    Drop shadows looks like it will keep me entertained for *days*, so if in the meantime there is anything else I can add, say so here !
    The following topics are now covered:
    * The Header
    * The Post Content
    * The Menu
    * The Footer
    * Link Classes
    * The rap div & Images
    * Put the menu on the left

    I am on point on drop shadows. The questions are do we go for images. Or css. And if css what sort. Or give a choice? As it is for beginners I am thinking *simplicity*. Then mention the other options. Matt here thinks an image is just fine. So what the heck. But I really do not want to get into paint shop pro here. Nor I would imagine does anybody else! If I can’t explain it in GIMP I’d be stuck :-):

    I have an agreement with my graphics programs .. I try nothing more complex than cut, resize and paste, and in return, they don’t make me swear ??

    I am always grateful if they do not cause my system to crash. Just about all I ask.
    Generally; if it can’t be coded I do not get excited.

    Speaking for all newbies (and I have appointed myself chief spokesman for the moment), many thanks. To quote a well-known styling artist*:
    “You’re the top!”

    Best wishes.

    And the guide has been added to the CSS Tips and Tricks Section of the Wiki.

    podz, your site appears to be down.

    Site seems to be up and down intermittently. Or, the server can’t respond to the number of requests it’s receiving. Keep trying!

    Thanks. I also discovered that Google cache is my friend!

    Right now, you will get errors if you click a link to those pages, but they DO still exist.
    Enter the URI straight into the browser address bar.
    I’ve put in a .htaccess which is killing *all* possible hot-linking from my site, and this includes .html files for the moment.
    Sorry !
    (oh, and my email has changed too. It’s thepodz @ spymac . com )
