Gravatar Broken

After installing ithemes security, my gravatar is not pulling in. I tried to deactivate the plugin, and even create a new user profile, but no matter what i do the gravatar is not pulling in. it seems completely broken.
im at a complete loss and cant figure out how to fix this ??
