• Hello,

I recently started setting up a new website and discovered that the wordpress username for this new website somehow got linked to a different gravitar account, so that even though all posts say the author is the right username, if you click on the name it goes to a different gravitar profile and a different www.ads-software.com

Does anyone know why this would have happened? It seems like it might have something to do with my email– I might have used the same email for this wordpress account as the gravitar, but I would hope that gravitar wouldn’t automatically link the accounts just because of that.

It’s doing it on this website, too. I never uploaded this aviator, but somehow it grabbed it from the other account because I recognize it as a picture from the other one.

Gravatars are linked by email –

I am worried I’m going to have to delete my whole website and start over in order to fix this problem… can someone verify or has anyone else run into this issue?

I really hate it when websites automatically link crap and make decisions without consent. Google does it all the time, too and it’s screwed me over in the past as well.

Okay, but if it’s the wrong email then how do I fix it?

I never even involved gravatar on this new website, it just automatically linked it. I had no idea that wordpress post authorship was based on a gravatar, I never would have set up a gravatar account if I knew that.

Did you click on the link I posted? Login to your Gravatar account and see what’s up with that email.

Or change your email for your account on this site and it’ll give you a generic gravatar (like mine).

Yes I did, I saw that it lets you “hide” your profile, but it says that the email cannot be changed and that the account cannot be deleted.

I can change the profile information, but the URL stays the same– which is what I want to unlink.

You should bee able to change the email in your user profile in your account here. Does that not work?

BTW, you now have a red gravatar…

Yeah I changed it … still not happy that this wordpress forum linked to it though

you can add an email address, but says you can’t delete the original

Hmm, tried it on another non-admin account I have, seemed to work, but maybe you can’t for a certain amount of time after you’ve created it. You can make a new account here if you’d prefer – just don’t use this one.
