• when we choose ai1ec as our calendar solution it was free, except for some plugins. more and more, features were reduced over the years and became part of the Pro-Upgrade, which was a one-time payment first and changed to subscription a few years ago.

Although now paid, the calender hasn’t improved very much over the years – backend interface is not WordPress standard, frontend interface is hard to tame because of it’s rare template language and the not documented API.

Basically, what changed over the years is the price. I absolutely understand, that the authors must earn money and their work should pay off. But if you compare it with other calendars nowadays, we wouldn’t decide for it in more complex situations. Not beeing able to connect to other calenders by subscribing other calendars is now definitely missing.

All the other features like the ?calendar platform? and whatsoever are not needed. Bring back to the 2013 situation in a 2018 interface and it’ll get 5 stars again.
