• One of the biggest concerns of my customers is how to manage SEO aspects like headings. Yoast is a common tool to help in this point. In this sense, Gutemberg is great to explain which element is what (like titles, for instance) and even forces user to have just on h1 (hard to believe but some clients insist to insert as many h1 as possible, even tough I alert them about the risks of being penalized for doing it).

However, on the other hand, for developers it might be a little confusing to adapt to these new feature. Mainly when we have complex websites such as marketplaces that use a great number of different plugins. My concern is related to the compatibility of GB regarding those various plugins that I use (which changes from site to site).

Well, every change implies in having to rethink things, change the way things are… and it is always a challenge. Hope that in the future, when looking back for today, we are convinced that GB it was a correct move from WP.

Last, but not less important, it seem to me that, even with the ‘try it’ actions, lot of users would like some more time to deal with it and would prefer to have GB as an option rather than some imposed change.

  • You can insert as many H1 as you want, you’ll find the H1 level on the sidebar (when a subheading is selected).

It would be nice to force a single h1… In this case I’ll keep advising them not to abuse of h1 tag… thanks for the comment!
