• Thanks for this.. I have been removing all the bloat myself for years, and even have a standard plugin I use on all the sites I build that includes removing Yoast Fat, but yours is better!

Things are getting totally out of control now. Constant nags and admin spam.

I do hope this plugin lasts..

I really appreciate the Yoast plugin, don’t know what I’d do without it.. although, there are actually a number of new options rising that are challenging the Yoast Bloat.

That said, it is free.. and while I doubt Yoast needs the cash, advertising is legitimate and fair.

However, they really don’t seem to care about the backend load times and other negative effects the plugin has, which to me seems like a kind of arrogance.

“We are so great, you need us so badly, so who cares if we spam your WP Admin and make it load slowly!”

I wonder how they imagined it all before they became famous…

I would also pay a donation to them, just to remove the crud, but instead I will send you a donation for writing a nice clean solution.

I do hope it lasts though.. Yoast is a big company, they might try and bully you into submission. Lets hope not, and that rather they learn that many people are bothered by the bloating, slow admin, and intrusive and useless nag messages, and the garish cartoons.

Yoast is still the best SEO plugin in my opinion, and this addon makes it better.

    Good luck, and thanks!

    Hi Guy,

Many thanks for your 5 star rating and review.

I have every intention of keeping this plugin up to date, although sometimes it is a challenge to figure out if team Yoast added some more bloat to their latest release.

I agree that a little unobtrusive advertising is fine and many plugin developers add something to their settings page, but the way Team Yoast does it is simply too much.

The tipping point to release this plugin was the forced redirect to the about page of the plugin after each update. More often than not a new version of Yoast SEO is released in a series of 2-5 as there always seem to slip in some bugs right at release time. So you can imagine my clients and the other 1+mio people that have activated the plugin being forced to see the about page of the plugin 2-5 times in one week. Can you imagine if every plugin would do that?!

And then there are the official guidelines (point 11) that explicitly state that

Any form of “nagging” is absolutely prohibited.

Now of course there we have entered a grey area and as such it is impossible to argue what is nagging and what is not.

Hence the SO Clean Up Yoast SEO plugin, so the people can decide for themselves what is nagging and what is not ??
