    Thank you for your feedback.

Unfortunately, it would require to completely change the main code. The avatars are inserted into comments from 26 fully prepared images (in various sizes). So in the current plugin format it is not easy to implement.

The best way to do it would be to have 26 images of white alphabet letters on transparent background (in .png) and place them on <div> with randomly (or not randomly) chosen background colour. I’m only worried about getting the letter spacing right – it may not be that easy, since every letter has different width.

Great idea, I will keep that in mind and definitely implement it in future.

Yep, fair comment. BTW I use an android mail app called bluemail. (bluemailapp.com) Each mail in the list shows a small circle with the avatar if present. However, it falls back to first/second name initials of the sender using 2 characters. So I guess there’s a script out there somewhere …

Good luck with development and thanks for your feedback.

I’m sure it’s just a matter of experimenting with sizes, image-spacing and margins and I will eventually get it right. I’ve already added it to todo list.
Btw. thanks for mentioning small circle avatars in bluemail. After I saw it I thought it would be nice idea to add round avatars option to my plugin and I did it right away.

    Thanks,
    Dan

‘You’re on the case’ Dan… I’ll watch this space and close off for now.

    Thanks.

I have created a similar plugin, except it uses svg, so it is fairly extensible, allowing you to add first and last name initials.

    Take a look: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/echo1-consulting-inital-js-avatar/screenshots/
