Great plugin but…

  • Everything was going great until I set the plugin to start mining automatically when people visit my site, using the PRO version that didnt work. Then my virus detector, detected a Trojan horse file in this plugin…for those who dont know, trojan horses create a backdoor in your computer for malicious users to intrude. I dont know the developers intentions but I hope it wouldnt be greed to get users personal banking info when you’re already taking 10-25% commission.

    First of all it is 10% commission for basic version and 15% for pro version (NOT 10-25%).

    Regarding the trojan horse warning:
    The mining script is executed when browsing the site in the browser sandbox. It CANNOT harm your computer as it has no access to it. The reason why these mining scripts are detected as malware by antivirus programs is that they use computer resources (CPU) while you are browsing the site. When the user closes the site the script cannot run anymore and will not be present on the users machine.
    Summary: This script cannot harm your computer or get your banking info.

    Please write me the site on which you have problems with the automatic mining. We should be able to fix this. Then please consider updating your rating.

    Thank you for the in depth response. I will update my rating after you answer this, why is microsoft and other big anti-virus companies making this a big deal, saying to delete this plugin? Now people are downloading anti mine software, it doesnt make sense. I really want to use this plugin as its more lucrative than google ads. I just dont want to ruin my sites reputation.

    They make a big deal because many people are using these mining scripts without showing a start/stop mining button. This way processing power of the user is used and he does not know about it. Even if it is only as long as he is on the website it is still not nice. So that’s why they flag it as virus.

    There are approaches like https://authedmine.com/ which always ask the user if he agrees with mining with his resources. I do not know if this is blocked by many antivirus. If you are interested in this I can implement it in this plugin.

    Have you implemented the authedmine option? I understand it’s not your fault, but the average user won’t. Having an anti-virus warning about my website makes it not useful.

    and jeah it’s a false alarm of your antivirus like many otther miners
