• Jetpack is a great plugin and the stats it provides is also wonderful. The only thing I would suggest is you don’t accident activate the part called Photon which which saves all of your graphics on the wordpress cloud server. There is no longer a “deactivate” button for this feature so once you turn it on you are screwed. And it WILL slow your site down. Their claims of speeding thing sup is a horrible joke. And once you have it turned on and can’t turn it off, you are forced to have a horribly slow site, which also greatly hurts your SEO or you have to just delete Jetpack all together.

Right now to pull up a simple 53kb image takes 9 seconds. 9 seconds may not seem that long to some but anyone who has sat there staring on a screen for 9 seconds realizes how unacceptable that really is and since you can’t turn off Photon once it is turned on I just wanted to warn you all, don’t accidently turn it on!! _BIG MISTAKE_

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

You can deactivate Jetpack modules thanks to the Deactivate buttons appearing in each module in the Jetpack menu. You can find detailed instructions here:
    https://jetpack.me/support/#turn-off-jetpack-modules

Photon should not take 9 seconds to load the images on your site. If that happens, it could be caused by a conflict with your theme or with another plugin. Do you use any cache plugins on your site?

Could you also post your site URL so I can investigate further?

Unfortunately I made that mistake. Not happy Jan! Why is photon still involved with my images even though I have deactivated it?

@gavin.horne It’s worth noting that Tiled Galleries use Photon to resize your images on the fly in all Tiled Galleries.

However, if you do not use the Tiled Galleries nor the Photon module, your images should not be served by WordPress.com. If that’s the case, could you start a new support thread so we can have a look at the issue?

@jeremy Herve, thanks for that. I thought I was losing my mind. I had disabled photon because the images were randomly loading and I still couldn’t get the src attribute to come from my site. Thought I was going to have to write a plugin to override jetpack. Photo kept telling me it couldn’t find my image. Tiled Galleries was why I couldn’t get rid of it. Would like to use it but obviously not quite ready for production on a photo heavy site.

@frizbian I’d be happy to investigate further so we can get Photon to work on your site too. Could you start your own thread and let me know your site URL as well as more details about your issue, or contact us via email?

    Thanks!
