Great plugin – IF it worked properly
-
I was very excited to find this plugin after struggling to understand the implementation of Google Tag Manager. It has step by step articles not only for plugin setup but also for Tag Manager configuration, which I found very useful.
The problem is that more than 50% of the visits were not recorded in Google Analytics.
I spent many days trying to fix this issue, with Google specialists and the Tag Assistant Chrome add-on, but I was not able to find the problem. Sometimes the visits were recorded sometimes they weren’t (especially if the visitor clicked on something before the page finished loading). Using Tag Assistant sometimes I would get a warning that the implementation is non-standard.
I tried to get some answers in the plugin support section but didn’t receive any satisfactory replies.
Regarding the non-standard implementation warning – the plugin says to insert its code right after the <body> tag, while the manual implementation of Tag Manager requires a code in the header and another in the body. Maybe this is where the issue is, but I don’t know since I didn’t get an answer from the developer.
I also installed the Facebook pixel and while the Facebook Pixel Helper (Chrome add-on) saw no errors in implementation, Facebook didn’t see the pixel as installed. The plugin has great potential, but… too bad it has time-wasting issues and its support is sub-standard.
