I thought it was a Great security plugin
-
My original 5-star review from 2018 is below the line.
I paid for the Pro version in 2016, and I have now paid a total of US$356.40 for “Premium Support.”
My advice: Do NOT pay for “Premium Support/Pro Version”, unless you don’t know what to do with your money. Perhaps I’m spoiled, but when I request support for my server from Hivelocity.net, I get immediate attention. I expected something similar from Wordfence for the price.
I was one of the “early adopters” and early subscribers, and this is the *first* time in 4 years that I have asked for support:
Wordfence suddenly deactivated itself on my busy site. Attempts to reactivate it, even after deleting the plugin directory and reinstalling, generated this error message: “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
Four hours after posting a ticket I got a response suggesting that I delete the Wordfence plugin folder (with all my settings, license number, etc), reinstall the plugin and try to activate it again. That’s the kind of thing I do for free plugins that act up. I did NOT expect that kind of “support” for my Premium Support payment!
After reporting the failure of the “support” advice, this notice went up:
“Agent Working on This Ticket”
I’m supposed to believe that someone has been working on my ticket for over 14 hours!!I’m fed up and am installing another plugin. We’ll see how that goes.
Wordfence seems to work fine as long as it works, but don’t expect meaningful support after paying for “Premium Support.”

This plugin replaces a number of individual plugins by monitoring login attempts and either throttling them or denying access, depending on behavior. It also scans core files and plugin files and compares them against repository version for change, thus protecting a site against injected malware. It also scans files and comments specifically for known malicious files, backdoors, trojans and suspicious code.
Many customizable settings.
Amazing one-stop solution even in the free version!
(I have now bought the Pro version for quicker security updates and more. There’s nothing better. The informative emails are worth it all by themselves.)
