• The theme is lightweight and appears good on initial install, but as soon as I tried customizing it, things went sideways quickly.

    Add a background image? Suddenly the various sidebar widgets are strewn all over.

    Also, the background is EVERYTHING. As in, your content (text) sits on top of it- there’s no backdrop to separate your content from the background.

    Changing the link color changed the header color. Changing the background color did nothing.

    And that’s when I knew it was time to move on.

    Not seeing the sidebar widget issue you describe at all and I’m not sure why adding a background would affect the layout in any way? Care to shed any more light on that?

    That is generally what a background is? ?? This way, if people want to add a subtle texture as a background (visible through the text) they can. If you’re adding a detailed background image then yes, it’s not going to look so good behind the text. That is easily fixed though by just applying a background colour to the .inner-wrap class.

    Changing the link color changed the header color. Changing the background color did nothing.

    Background color option works fine. I guess you tried to change that whilst a background image was present, though. In that case no, the background color will not change. The header color is based on the link color, sorry you didn’t like that, you can always hook in your own option for the header, or even set a header background.

    Thanks for the review.

    Hey, I’m back! I saw your response and I wanted to duplicate the problem to show you a screenshot… the layout wackiness seems to have been caused because I was missing half of a two part code (one part goes in a widget, the other in the header- I forgot to add the header code, and somehow, the widget pushed things out of its way. on your theme, whereas on other themes, it simply doesn’t display. The widget is the ad widget from projectwonderful.com , in case you want to try adding the widget side-only to see what it does. I’m guessing that any 300×250 javascript box would have the same effect.

    The lack of color change… seems to have been caused by my server being reeeeaaallly slowwwwww… I believe I’m the victim of brute force login attempts right now- this is slowing my sites significantly, and apparently the delay extends to the preview. I’m getting crazy 30 second to 1 minute delays, so it seemed as if nothing was happening at all.

    The background thing is still an issue. If you check out some other themes (I want to say pretty much any theme).. or even sites like twitter.. you’ll notice that they have a buffer graphic between the background and the content. That way, you can have anything as your background, and it won’t interfere with the content. I wanted to use this background image:
    https://subtlepatterns.com/random-grey-variations/
    (you can click the center button to make it a full page preview)
    Not a very good blend for any text color.

    Example twitter page- crazy background, content buffer:
    https://twitter.com/WhatTheFFact

    So, looks like 2/3rds of my issues were on my end. I’m sure you put a lot of time/effort into the theme, and you took the criticism really well. If it’s any consolation, I’ve been up about 20 hours straight now, and dealing with brute force attacks on a dozen or so websites. Looks like you’re the victim of a frustrated insomniac! Sorry bout that. I’ll see if I can revise the review.

    Hey,

    Thanks for taking the time to get back to me, sounds like you’ve had quite a day!

    I get what you mean about the background, but ironically if it was that way I would have people complaining that they want to set a background image without the ‘buffer’.

    Like I said before, this is still a really easy fix. If you just add;

    .inner-wrap { background: white; }

    To your child themes CSS the buffer will appear ?? If you have problems with that please post in the forum where I (or another member of the community) will be able to help you further.

    Thanks
