Great tool for customizing layouts

  • I just recently purchased the Jump Start framework and have been messing around with it to see how it compares to other frameworks I’ve used. This is a great tool to build some custom page layouts and adds flexibility. A lot of premium themes I’ve seen use shortcodes to create unique page layouts which works but this is a much better way of handling content structure.

    The one thing I would like to see is a visual editor toolbar with the text area option. It is not a huge issue because you could just set it up as a floating widget area and use the Black Studio TinyMCE Widget plugin but it would be nice to have on the page itself.

    Thank you for the review! It’s really appreciated. It’s great to see that you’ve gone out of your way to post, even though you’re not having any kind of issue. And more importantly, I’m glad you like the plugin and how it works with the framework.

    This is honestly something that has come up a lot in the past and something I’ve worked quite a bit to integrate. Because of how the Builder currently pulls everything in through javascript for editing, I could never get WP’s TInyMCE editor to insert right and initiate.

    This is an interesting workaround I had not heard of before. Another sort of workaround is to select content from external page. Here’s a video that talks about using this to essentially tackle the issue you’re describing:

    I thought about that as well but I am not a big fan of creating new pages to use for content. It seems to clutter up the list of pages.

    I quickly messed around with Advanced Custom Fields and it is possible to set up a WYSIWYG field for adding content and then display it in a raw content box using a shortcode. Not as good as a Raw content box with it’s own TinyMCE editor but it keeps all the content on the same page you are editing rather than importing from another page or using a widget to handle the content.
