    Hi Jory,

Glad to hear you like our tools. While the AddThis dashboard has our advanced configuration it is possible to configure our Sharing and Follow buttons from within our plugins.

You can configure where to control your plugins from in the Advanced Options tab. See from our screenshots. And here is an example of the in WordPress configuration.

We are working on improving the WordPress/AddThis dashboard experience in upcoming versions.

    Thanks,
    -Brad

Yes I know, but it is still required to connect to an account outside of the WordPress admin while this wasn’t before.
It would be nice to have a “passive” version within the plugin.

An AddThis account is not required to use our Sharing Buttons plugin. If you already have an AddThis account then we encourage you to keep the plugin linked to you account because you will continue to get analytics and an extended set of features.

However, if you do want run in a WordPress only mode (“passive” as you put it) then do the following (5.0+ instructions):
    1) Go to the ‘Advanced Options’ tab
    2) Select “WordPress” in the “I want to control my plugin from…” section
    3) Clear your “AddThis Profile ID” from the “AddThis Analytics” section
    4) Save Changes

This is a new(er) feature right? Didn’t see this before.
