Great until the Extendify update

  • This plugin was a great utility for common editor needs, especially ones that you’d think would be in core WordPress by now.

    Unfortunately, the Extendify acquisition also came with a block library and a big prominent button in the editor. After running updates and going to edit a page, I thought “what the bleep is Extendify?!”, as I knew I hadn’t installed a builder plugin. I disagree with introducing what I consider a totally different classification of features to a tool that was already excellent for what it was.

    I appreciate that the authors made ways to get around this, but the fact that I’d have to use workarounds like this every time soured me to the whole plugin and I’ll either implement the options myself or seek out another plugin.

  • Hi @stephym – thanks for your feedback. I certainly understand that the pattern and template library may not be useful for everyone. We are looking at additional ways to make it more clear where this feature came from, so it doesn’t cause people confusion.

    As you pointed out, we have made it easy to disable the feature if it’s not needed (like all features in EditorsKit). However, we want to continue to introduce new functionality to support users. It sounds like you may decide to go with another option, but if you do have any other editor needs that would be helpful, please let us know. Maybe you can try us again someday. The block editor is continually evolving, so we will need to adapt as well to provide value ??
