• I’ve used Jetpack for many years now, I use it on all of our sites. It’s a great plugin, and it has improved greatly over the years, especially the gallery and photon features are great. There are still some issues that need to be fixed:

    – Pet peeve: It automatically adds @jetpack as the default twitter:site, a real pain in the ass and on the narrow edge of content theft, as links shared on twitter is labeled as coming from jetpack, not your site. It can be fixed by editing functions.php, or by adding a plugin to remove it, both a big NO.

    – It’s is bloaty, as most functions you activate also adds it’s own js og css, some of them more than one. So be careful only to activate exactly what you need, and keep an eye on the number of resources a user has to load. W3total-cache is not able to automatically add and combine them all, making it a pain to work with.

    – Poor documentation. Jetpack changes often, and seldom breaks, which is good, but it is pretty hard to find out exactly what is possible, or how to figure out a bug. Useful forum topics get closed before the issue is resolved, making it a timeconsuming prosess to wade though many different threads to try to find the answer you need, or adding your own duplicate topic just to say “this is still an issue”.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

    Thanks for the feedback!

You can actually set your own Twitter site value by going to Settings > Sharing in your dashboard: we added an option there a few releases ago.

It’s is bloaty, as most functions you activate also adds it’s own js og css, some of them more than one.

We recently made a full audit of our code and made sure each module only loads additional resources when necessary. We also added an option to concatenate all CSS into one single file, thus limiting the number of resources added to your site. These changes were released in Jetpack 3.2. That should help you!

Poor documentation. Jetpack changes often, and seldom breaks, which is good, but it is pretty hard to find out exactly what is possible, or how to figure out a bug.

We document each module here: https://jetpack.me/support/
If something is missing, or if you wish to see more documentation about a specific module, let me know!

It’s worth noting that we plugin authors do not, and cannot close forum topics. However, topics are automatically closed after a year if there are no new replies. Forum moderators may also choose to close topics that are deemed non-productive to the community, as explained here:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Forum_Welcome#Closing_Posts

adding your own duplicate topic just to say “this is still an issue”.

That’s often preferred on these forums. It’s often better to start your own thread instead of adding a “me too” to an existing thread started by somebody else, as mentioned here:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Forum_Welcome#Where_To_Post

If the original thread was yours, and didn’t see any activity for a year thus causing it to get closed, then even if it’s not ideal, it’s ok to start a new thread. We reply to all the threads in these forums anyway ?? If you mention the original thread in your new post, we’ll put the pieces together!

    I hope this helps.
