Jetpack, once a beloved and essential plugin, has now taken a turn for the worse. The recent changes, particularly the decision to charge exorbitant fees for features that were once free, have left many users (including myself) feeling frustrated and betrayed.

The most egregious change is the move to charge for basic stats functionality. For years, Jetpack offered this feature for free, allowing to track site’s performance without any extra cost. Now, they have the audacity to demand payment for what was once a fundamental part of the plugin. Their justification for this change is laughable. Claiming that free stats plans are only available for “truly personal sites” is insulting to users who have relied on Jetpack for years to monitor their websites, regardless of their commercial status. And let’s not forget their patronizing offer of “pay what you want” for personal sites that don’t generate revenue. How generous of them to let us decide how much we should pay for something that used to be free. Shame on you.

But perhaps the most infuriating part of this whole debacle is Jetpack’s complete disregard for user feedback. Instead of listening to their loyal user base, they have chosen to ignore complaints and double down on their decision to monetize every aspect of their plugin. Their dismissive response to criticism, coupled with their insistence on pushing paid plans, shows a blatant lack of respect. Jetpack has gone from being a helpful tool to an extortionate money grab. Charging for features that were once free is a slap in the face to the WordPress community. If you’re considering using Jetpack, think twice before handing over your hard-earned money to this greedy company. There are plenty of other plugins out there that offer similar functionality without the hefty price tag and the arrogant attitude.

Goodbye Jetpack! It was a good ride until now!

    Hi @colchaguino,

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us.

Jetpack’s features and free offers continue to evolve to meet the changing needs of our users while sustaining the plugin’s development and support.

I understand that some of these changes, like the recent change to Jetpack Stats you mentioned, can be disconcerting, but decisions like these are typically made to better align with the plugin’s long-term sustainability and user benefit.

For issues regarding specific Jetpack changes, I recommend reaching out through our contact form so that our team can address your concerns directly and provide the most accurate information regarding your situation.

However, if Jetpack no longer meets your requirements, and you’re exploring other plugins, we’d be sad to see you go but it’s essential to ensure that those alternatives adhere to best practices for performance, security, and support.

    Thank you!

@colchaguino Well said. Ditto. i’m out, too. sad.

When I full focused as a programmer & developer since 2008, I also feels that charge of jetpack stats with 8$ maybe it was expensive.
So was sad to know this!

This is not about to make long terms sustainability! But, jetpack just like venture capital does! Want to money – money & money, pushing the other to make money everytime & everywhere!

Too many people will migrate to the alternative, and I feel that too many people now remove the jetpack from their sites.

Your team decisions make a fatal decision! When their gone, they will not comeback.
