    Hello @jodiallbon

I’m sorry about the disparity in the SEO scores when editing a page and the Pages overview page. The Yoast SEO plugin analyzes the content straight in your browser while editing; your browser performs the analysis “live” as you add content, make modifications, etc. This is the score displayed in your page edit screen from the Yoast SEO meta box. Once you publish or save a post, this score is saved to the database. The scores saved in the database are the ones that are displayed on the post overview screen (under the score columns).

However, we have seen unexpected issues where the previously optimized data is invalid or incomplete. We’ll start with a reset of the optimization to ensure we’ve removed any invalid data. We know that resetting the data may sound intimidating, but our?How to reset the Yoast indexables?guide will walk you through the process step by step. We’ve also summarized the steps below:

    1. Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
    3. Locate the Yoast SEO section and click on the ‘Reset indexables tables & migrations‘, ‘Reset Prominent words calculation‘, and ‘Reset Internal link counter‘ buttons. After each click, the page will reload to confirm that the specific reset was successful.
    4. Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “Start SEO data optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your content.

Please let us know if the reported issue remains after resetting the optimized data.

hi – i replied to your email – it must not go to this thread. I did what you suggested but it did not resolve the problem. Can you help please?

hi – we followed those steps, and it still doesn’t fix the issue.

    Hey @jodiallbon,

    Thank you for following up.

When you opened up a post and see the green light, have you resave the post before heading back to the overview? Please know that we store a score on a post publish or post update. If an old score is still stored for a post, a new score can be recalculated when you have it open so in turn that might occur that the new score is different than the one you saw in the overview – we continue on improving both our SEO & Readability analysis.

    Hello @jodiallbon

Did you Reset indexables tables & migrations, Prominent words calculation and Reset Internal link counter?

Did you run the SEO data optimization analysis in WordPress > Yoast SEO > Tools?

yes – i definitely saved it and also did your steps – twice. Still does the same thing. I have also cleared the cache also. Any other suggestions.

    Hi @jodiallbon

Are you using any page builders such as Elementor to edit your posts and pages, or is it the default WordPress block editor or classic editor?

Just to clarify, could you check and confirm whether it’s both the SEO score and the Readability score that appears as ‘green’ when editing, but when you go back to the overview screen, that post or page then has a score of ‘orange’ for the SEO and Readability?

Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

If you feel uncomfortable doing this yourself or if this does not solve your issue, our Yoast SEO Premium plugin comes with one year of (technical) support.
