grid display error

I have enabled the lite version and selected the catalog page to display 5 categories with three products under each category.
Unfortunately if there are only one or two items in a category, the categories that follow have the grid messed up. The class “last” is being applied to the first item for example in the category following a category with two items. So the page grid will push out the floats and everything below is only in one or two columns, not 3 columns.
