Grid layout custom backgrounds

I have the Mega Menu panel background set to body with a fixed background color but I have been asked to make this a variable color depending on which top level menu item is selected.

I can see I have the option to add a rowclass to the mega menu but I need to change the background color for ul.mega-sub-menu while in specific top level items.

Is this possible?
