Grid Layout Twenty Seventeen theme – front page

I’ve been trying to implement a grid layout on the homepage/front page of my site, wanting my posts to be shown here rather than on a separate page.

I’ve been searching fruitlessly, I’ve tried using Post Grid and Content views (the free version is ugly af) to no avail, Post Grid came up with errors and I struggled with where to add the code when wanting to use the front page. When I tried to add code into the main .php files it resulted in the deadly white screen.

Pleaaasee, I hope someone can help, everything I have found online doesn’t assist with the fact I want it to be the front page.
