• Is there a way one can customise the theme to make it three grid theme? At the moment, the theme only has one centred column, which leaves a huge space on the right and on the left on pc monitors. Allowing customisation of the theme to make it multi-grid would make it possible to add sidebars or other widgets to the right and the left.

  • I saw a tutorial where they made a (landing) page (customizer, fixed homepage), with a table/columns. Recent (or all) postst were called in de cells of this table. There are plugins to have the featured image in it as well cause that doenst work with this method.
Is didn’t see a way to have a menu in one of the columns however…

@bvo can you send video for tutorial make a landing page ?

Hi, you can get close using the following steps…

    1. Set a static homepage in Settings->Reading
    2. Edit the assigned homepage and set the Template as Full Width
    3. In the edit area, set a Columns block to be 3 columns wide

Inside of the Columns block you can add widget/image/paragraph/etc blocks

    Search in youtube for:
Twenty Twenty Theme: Set homepage & style with Gutenberg blocks!

Its not a complete tutorial about your question, but might help you a bit

@bvo and @jarretc Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately, none of those allow for the ability to have a theme-wide multicolumn options.

@enigmie The entire point of the 2020 theme is that it is a blank canvas to use the block editor/new editor with.

The editor’s purpose is to be able to create any type of site you wish. There is, as mentioned above, a multi-column block just for the 3 column you refer to.

If you are looking for a static theme with just 3 columns the 2020 theme is not for you.

Is there a way to put a menu (widget) in one of the 3 columns?

yes I wish when they created twenty twenty it would have options to have 3 or 4 footer widgets. has anyone found a solution or how to add

    This is a great question.

Just to clarify and make sure that I am on the same page as everybody else.

We are talking about the number of columns for the footer widgets at the bottom of the page. If you scroll down to the bottom of this page there are 6 columns.

The twentytwenty theme by default has 2, it also has really big font and wide spacing the footer looks really clunky compared to the rest of the themes sleek look.

I know that the font sizes can be edited through the CSS but the number of columns in the footer seems to be fixed at 2. I have skimmed through the php looking for this and can’t seem to find it. Any help on how to add a columns to the footer would be appreciated.

    Thank you

@joshuachiriboga this post wasn’t about the footer widgets necessarily or at least not what the original author was referring to when re-reading.

I’m not sure how much you know about HTML but you could just place a Custom HTML widget in each of the Footer # locations in the Widgets window. Then just add 3 <div></div> elements or whatever suits your needs to each of the widgets.

You’d still have to create some custom CSS to get it displaying correctly.

Otherwise, the widget code itself is located in the theme’s functions.php file starting on line 348:

    https://themes.trac.www.ads-software.com/browser/twentytwenty/1.1/functions.php#L348

You could add more widget locations using a child theme but you’d still need to modify the CSS to get it to display correctly.
