• Hello,

    thank you for this plugin.
Next to remarketing I am measuring some things with GTM and also including Facebook Pixel via my Google Tag Manager.

However, for GTM to work I have implement a short code in the <head> of my website. Now when I check I noticed that two GTM codes are implemented. Once a GTAG (your plugin) and once GTM (manual implementation).

Is there a way to implement these together, so I do not have to run this twice?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Update: I spoke too soon.
Just noticed that in your plugin you offer gtag Deactivation.
If i activate this, will your plugin use the GTM implemented code instead?
Or does it really need gtag?

    And update 3:
when you disable the gtag, it will throw an error that the gtag is missing while i have implemented GTM. So it seems those are not compatible/interchangeable. Is there a way to have the plugin use the GTM code instead of looking for the gtag?

    Hi @sanderrrrr

Sorry for the late reply. Do you still need help with this?

Not are gtags are the same, and it is not a problem to have them fired twice. So in case of doubt just leave it on and it will work.

    Regards

Thank you Aleks. I understand they are not the same; but why use both? I think you can combine all functions into one? Ideally you use google tag manager for rollout; and do not use your function. But it seems you force the use of GTAG instead of GTM.

Is there a reason for this?

using both GTAG and GTM seems a waste of load times.

If you use GTM you can configure everything in there. But, it is not simple, especially because of the dynamic values.

Our plugin simplifies this. But it can’t use the GTM pixel for transmission of the values to Google (tried it). It is dependent on the gtag which is configured with the Google Ads specific conversion ID.

So if convenience is more important to you and if you want to be sure that it works fine, use our plugin.

Otherwise use GTM to configure it to use the dynamic values.

Also, from a technical perspective having both tags fired is only a minor inconvenience.
