If you add the guest button, the popup is too tall for average mobile phone screen sizes.

on all iphones safari adds a small toolbar to the bottom of the window until you scroll. This prevents the FB chat box from being fully visible. The close icon and top bars are off the screen.

Please can you adjust the CSS so that this bug is fixed or provide clear instructions on how to override the styling using css.

  • Agreed. Mainly because there is a big privacy text Facebook needs to display. The team is addressing this.

I have posted the same response in the other issue I raised – They are both related

You can see that in screenshot2 below – Everything fits and works.
But the same settings on a different customers site in screenshot1 and screenshot3 displays a longer privacy message.

So anything that increases the height of the box ruins the UX experience. I.e. Turn on Guest mode and add 3 lines of text to the welcome message and it is way too big. The solution is simple enough. Reduce the privacy message, or reduce the size of the sign in/guest buttons or reduce the padding.

Any or all of the options above are impossible because of the way the popup loads in an iframe.

So on iphones, on page load the browser back button, bookmark and share buttons appear on a toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

This reduces the viewport size on page load.

When you scroll the bar disappears.

So if you try to use the chat on page load it is too big for the available space. Google Chrome and Safari have the same behaviour.

    Screenshots below

Screenshot1 – From a customers website – Shows larger privacy message even though settings are the same as in screenshot 2.

Screenshot2 – From my company website – Shows smaller privacy message even though settings are the same as in screenshot 1.

    Hi @thomasjarvisdesign,

Just a quick note to let you know that the shorter text will eventually become standard. We are gradually rolling this out to improve the experience for users connecting with businesses, while transparently communicating our data policy.

    Once again, thanks for raising!

Thank you. I can see that a few other changes have been implemented already – Including stopping the chat window opening its self on page load as an option during setup. Thank you for continuing to develop the plugin and taking my feedback on board.

As a work around, I have removed the guest option from my customers websites for now. But will reinstate it at a later date once the plugin has been updated.
