• Hello. I am working for a local TV news company and we prepared our website(s) with the goal of appearing in Google News. We have a publisher page ready, but since months there are no results in search. We asked Google for support about the issue and they pointed out at the RSS which is being generated having <guid isPermaLink=”false”> while it should be <guid isPermaLink=”true”> since we use full links.
Google also points out how both <description> and <content:encoded> are being used while only one should be picked.

Is there anything we can do with the plug-in to solve this issue? We do not have any coding expertise so it is hard to change anything related to PHP.

    Thank you for your attention.

  • Hi Mpiz,

Something with your WordPress or a plugin you are using is changing the normal behavior of what is usually set as the guid in WordPress.

Are you using any other RSS feed or SEO plugin that might affect RSS feeds?

Thank you for your quick reply,
we are using YoastSEO as a plugin which may your interfere. We are trying to identify all possible issues. We tried to link the RSS without your plug-in, but it gave issues and could not import articles. Another plugin we use which may influence the RSS feed is AMP. Perhaps even a page builder can edit the feed? We have no clue about this.
Moreover, is there any chance the theme can edit the output of an RSS feed? We are using KolYoum by Bdaia.

    Thank you for your patience.

Looking into it and checking with our expert to see if there’s an easy solution here, hang on ??

Thank you for your research on this issue! We are exploring too for possible other “culprits” and solutions, but no luck on our end sadly. We tried to experiment with Google Search too but there are zero results concerning our websites. Which is strange since we respect the content quality guidelines that Google promotes.
Hope to hear from you soon and thank you again.

    Mpiz,

I have a potential fix for you. Can you drop me an email at [email protected] and I’ll send it to you by email?

    Chris

Mpiz, I emailed you back yesterday and haven’t heard anything – did you get my email? Might check your spam box if not,

    Apologies for the late answer.
Yes, I got the email and we tried to apply the fix. We hope in some time it will pay off and in the meanwhile, I look forward to the development of this plugin.
