Hi! I recently migrated my podcast blog from Blogger to WordPress. Looking at the RSS feed, it appears that the GUID for recent podcast episodes T1 through T14 are missing, and therefore the episodes are not showing up in services like Stitcher.

This is the GUID for example episode T14, which is not showing up:

This is the GUID for the latest episode T16, which is showing up fine:

https://ancientworldpodcast.com/?p=409</guid>

Am not very technically savvy, and would very much appreciate help on how to fix the GUID for these episodes. Thanks!

Hello @scotttaw,

Can you share the feed URL you are trying to import?

There is currently a new issue with feeds from SquareSpace, we are aware and will be developing a fix for it, but if your feed is also having an issue then we would want to include the service where your feed comes from as well in the fix.

Thanks,
Angelo

Hi Scott,

Thank you for sending your newly generated PowerPress feed, which I can see is missing some GUIDs as you pointed out. Could you send the URL to your old feed, that is, the URL that you imported into PowerPress to create this feed?

Thank you,
Ben

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the offer to help. I used a process in my IONOS host to transfer my blog from Blogger to WordPress. I later did a permanent redirect on my Blogger site and deleted my old Blogger feed. So I’m not sure if I can still provide what you’re looking for. I apologize that I’m not very tech-savvy. If you can tell me where I may be able to find what you’re looking for, I’d be happy to send along.

Also, I just checked Spotify and the episodes in question are still not showing up. Would really appreciate any help you could provide to get the GUIDs fixed.

Thanks!
Scott

Hello @scotttaw,

Podcast feeds should be migrated/imported from non WordPress sites to WordPress sites through the PowerPress import when possible. We are unaware how the IONOS system migrates, it may miss attributes and settings that are required for podcasts. The technical problem is the guid’s even with a normal WordPress import with newer versions of WordPress does not work like it did years ago due to changes in more recent versions of WordPress. You and one other person having issues importing have lead us to the latest version of PowerPress to include extra logic to deal with imports specifically to deal with WordPress clobbering the guid.

If you can, please update to the latest release of PowerPres (8.2.7) and see if it solves your issue. It may not , it depends on the source feed and if the GUID was formatted as a URL. If it was not a URL you may continue to still have guid issues unfortunately as WordPress now requires those GUIDs to be a URL (not sure why but someone decided to change this behavior in WP). If you have the URL to your podcast listing, we may be able to track down your previous podcast feed URL, at which point we may be able to walk you through importing that to solve this issue.

Thanks,
Angeloo

Hi! I’ve updated everything to the latest versions as requested, and the original problem I stated above has not been resolved. Would still very much appreciate assistance from a PowerPress plugin author to address this issue.
Regards,
Scott

Hello Scott,

After you do your import with the IONOS system, please use a tool such as phpmyadmin and browse the database table ‘posts’, sometimes ‘wp_posts’ Make sure the GUID column has data. I suspect the import you are using is leaving this information out of its import which is why you are having such problems.

Thanks,
Angelo
