GUID not update after call mfrh_rename()

    Dear Support,

    Have using mfth_rename(example_ID, “example.jpg”). The file success change but in the database wp_posts the field “guid” haven’t change. Is that normal ?

    Have you enabled the related option under the “Fields Syncing” in the Settings?

    Hi Jordy Meow,

    Haven’t turn on the GUID – Sync with filename in Fields Syncing. As it say “Better to keep this un-checked’, what the pros and cons on it ? Please can you explain as I’m not familiar in.

    Yeah, because it’s used by other plugins sometimes to reference the media, for some reason (yes, it’s unclear, but I have seen it a few times over the years). It used to be considered as an alternative to the ID of the Media, and somehow, WordPress also used it to keep the filename (no logic to this, unfortunately).

    It doesn’t affect anything in the system; updating it doesn’t bring any advantages (except that it might look cleaner to your eyes when you are in the Media Edit page). The truth is that it might only bring you weird issues ?? Which is why I don’t recommend synchronizing it.

    Hi Jordy Meow,

    I’m using Envira Gallery, discover that this plugin using the GUID for reference to open the media. So, I think only can enable the GUID – Sync with filename.

    Discover that Envira Gallery have meta data storing the image information. Is this Media File Renamer Pro can further rename those meta data ?

    Hi,

    The plugin doesn’t do anything specific to Envira, so I’d say no, but is it required? What does Envira Gallery needs? Are your images breaking after being renamed?

    Hi Jordy Meow,

    Yes. The media itself work normal. But open the image inside gallery will broken(Thumbnail is okay).
