Gutenberg/Block Editor Resources
-
Gutenberg is the code name for the WordPress block editor, which was brought into Core as of WordPress version 5.0. As of this version, you do not need to install the Gutenberg plugin to use the block editor.
Getting to Know the Block Editor
There are several reference guides available for the block editor:

Purpose of the Gutenberg Plugin
While the standalone Gutenberg plugin is still available, its purpose is to bring experimental block-editor features to folks who want to try them out before they get merged into core. As the plugin page explains:
Are you a tech-savvy early adopter who likes testing bleeding-edge and experimental features, and isn’t afraid to tinker with features that are still in active development? If so, this beta plugin gives you access to the latest Gutenberg features for block and full site editing, as well as a peek into what’s to come.
Gutenberg Development/Bugs/Enhancements
Gutenberg development happens in GitHub, and not Trac. Please report bugs and enhancement requests there directly, as it’s the best place to get them addressed:

Help With the Block Editor
If you need help with the block editor that comes with WordPress Core, and you do not have the standalone Gutenberg plugin active, then this forum isn’t the right place to post your question. Instead, please head to the general Fixing WordPress forum and post there.
If you do have the Gutenberg plugin active but you’re not sure whether it’s causing the issue you’re experiencing, try temporarily deactivating it. If the issue still occurs with Gutenberg deactivated, then go ahead and post in the Fixing WordPress forum.
If you only experience the problem with the standalone Gutenberg plugin active, then do post your question in this forum, being sure to indicate:
- What version of WordPress you’re using
- What version of the Gutenberg plugin you’re using
Full Site Editing & Block Themes
As of WordPress 5.9, the block editor can be used to edit parts of a site that weren’t previously accessible through the block editor, like headers and footers. To access this feature, you need to use a theme (called a “block theme”) that supports it, like Twenty Twenty-Two. Find more block themes.
