Gutenberg Editor on Category Archives

  • Is it possible to get the Gutenberg editor working for when editing a category description? Currently it just shows the standard text editor.

    I would like Gutenberg to add in marked up FAQs on each topic.

  • It may be possible, but not without a custom solution or a plugin. Has come up here before, but doesn’t look like it’s something that is currently in development.

    It may be likely to be part of “full site editing” aka block based themes via Gutenberg, but the current release does not enable Category/Archive page editing any different to current. You can see FSE schedule of features here.

    It may be a better approach to create a page for each category you need, and then insert posts in to the page as blocks. Doesn’t work too well with hundreds of categories, but in that case, something like Bill Ericksons “Block Areas” may help you achieve what you want.
