I have a fresh install of wordpress at SiteGround (6.4.3), and when using gutenberg blocks – I have no floating bar appearing that allows the drag and drop functionality. I’ve disabled all plugins, tested in various default themes, and can’t get it to appear. I’ve searched everywhere and cannot find any info as to why. Happens in both FF and Chrome.

Are you saying you don’t see the floating toolbar (like highlighted below for the Paragraph block) when working with ANY block?

Or is this “floating bar” something else?

@gappiah correct; that bar doesn’t appear on any blocks. I can’t solve as to why.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install and activate “Health Check”: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/
It will add some additional features under the menu item under Tools > Site Health.
On its troubleshooting tab, you can Enable Troubleshooting Mode. This will disable all plugins, switch to a standard WordPress theme (if available), allow you to turn your plugins on and off and switch between themes, without affecting normal visitors to your site. This allows you to test for various compatibility issues.
There’s a more detailed description about how to use the Health Check plugin and its Troubleshooting Mode at https://make.www.ads-software.com/support/handbook/appendix/troubleshooting-using-the-health-check/

@t-p that was the first process I tried, and the bar was still missing. I’ve also tried running Health Check in troubleshoot mode. Also disabled any ad blockers as well. No such luck.

This is the top toolbar. You can also switch it so that the options are only visible in the top bar. Click on the 3 dots at the top right and then click on “Top Toolbar”. You should then be able to switch it back.

@threadi that is in fact, all it was. Sheesh, when that top bar loads by default, there’s no UI indicator that the floating bar is disabled. I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure this out.
