Gutenberg has ruined WordPress

In what way has it ruined your WordPress experience? Would you mind providing some more details and we’ll see what solution we can arrive at together?

I completely agree with the OP. Gutenberg is for touch not desktop, and no serious content creator uses a smartphone to put content up on a website. I’m a long time WP advocate, building sites for non-techie people to use to add their creative content (words, images, video, via the backend to publish to their website). Well, those people can’t use Gutenberg because they create their content and ADD their content to their websites using a desktop (keyboard and mouse), not a mobile phone or touchscreen. These are journalists and authors, photographers and videographers, musicians, small business owners, lawyers, veterinarians, restaurantiers, and…, NOT Joe Blow or Annie Doe one-off Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp posters. Now, I am going to have to find an alternative to WP for them and rebuild what they have. You have just totally mucked up what was an excellent, powerful answer to need, and all for what? Content is consumed via smartphones, but content is built on desktops.

Normally, software changes do not bother me. However, I HATE this new editor with the passion of a thousand suns. Why? The desktop experience is terrible. WordPress was great because it was so easy to use that training was not required. This is no longer the case. Good software is intuitive. Gutenberg is not intuitive. You’ve disrupted our workflow. If it were not automatically enabled then that would be one thing… but this came live with an update. I don’t know what sort of UX folks worked on this (if any) but they need to lay off the shrooms. I now need to spend time to find a way to disable this until I can replace WordPress with something that our team can use. I no longer trust WordPress after this.

I agree! This software is a nightmare. I hate it with every fiber in my body. WP really screwed the pooch on this one. I dunno…. Will WP be the next Joomla?
