• I am new to WordPress & Gutenberg and am a bit confused,
as the message below comes up,
‘The Gutenberg plugin is not recommended for use in a production site.
Many things may be broken by using this plugin. Please deactivate.’
My question is, why has the statement above come up?
Should I proceed with constructing a website, for myself, using Gutenberg?
I will not be using it for blogging as such. It comes across as a good website building process and I would prefer to spend my time learning it for the future.
I appreciate it is still in beta, but can I still make a usable website with it?
Or should I for the moment try a more establish method?
Any advice would be greatly received. Chris.

  • Hi @chris2021
The Gutenberg plugin, has been out for more than a year now and to the best of my knowledge it is stable.
However, a lot of users find it hard to adjust to Gutenberg and would prefer to keep the classic editor which has been in placed since wordpress began.
In either case, use what makes your content available clearly and rapidly.

    Regards.

There’s two “different” Gutenbergs in use in WordPress. One is what’s built into core. That’s stable (as can be at least) and is able to be used. The plugin is different and does take more of a “bleeding edge” approach where new updates are pushed out for testing and evaluation which is why it’s not recommended for production sites. Under normal circumstances you shouldn’t need to have the Gutenberg plugin installed, unless you want to develop something against it’s newer functionality.
