    Hi,

I am using shortcode in the shortcode block. The block contains both shortcode AND text. I have also pasted straight into the default Gutenberg block and got same issue below.

I can paste the code and text into a shortcode block and it maintains the visual formatting of the code. Meaning – I am using NO html between the shortcode.

When I save the page – it looks perfect in a browser.

When I go back to the page in the Gutenberg editor it throws an error and asks me to convert to html (and the shortcodes + text are all collapsed in the editor window)

Question – is there some way around this? Or do I need to Convert to HTML then go into 20 pages and add paragraph tags and the like?

It seems like it’s going backwards in ease-of-use as opposed to forwards.

I would like WordPress to interpret what I paste in the block and present it on the page AND in the ADMIN view properly. And it sort of seems like it does half the job – so I am wondering if I’m doing something wrong.

    Thanks!

  • Could you include the shortcode you are using, or a similar approximation of it, here for reference?

Does this help? Colored the shortcode.

The problem seems likes it’s random as to how the editor reacts to the code.

The code pattern is basically the same throughout the pages. And in this instance – it is throwing the error with NO other HTML code (like paragraph tags for instance) on the page.

Almost likes it’s a random bug. If there is such a thing. Or maybe I’m just trying something that is not legal in WP.

I think shortcode ONLY accepts shortcode with nothing else in it.
