Hello. A few months ago, I started having issues with my existing posts. The images were all displayed as broken. These posts hadn’t been touched nor had any extensive changes been made to my site besides updates to the Gutenberg plugin. I noticed the URLs for the images had been updated from a good URL to:

    https://whatisshewearing.comwp-content/uploads/2022/12/plus-size-style-tips-1024×538.png

You can see the “/” has been removed between the “.com” and the wp-content.

I had to update every image in all my blog posts to remedy this issue the first time. However, this keeps happening and I’m not sure if it’s related to Gutenberg updates, or another issue, but I’m at wit’s end. My posts have slowly been de-indexed from Google Search Console, one by one. The strange thing is that sometimes the images load but when I check the editor they’re broken with the bad link. I update, but then it eventually breaks the images again.

Any help here would be appreciated. As a newer blogger, I’m trying to get my site off the ground with 50+ posts, but it’s hard to gain credibility or find partnerships with this major issue. I had already reached out to my hosting provider but had no luck with a diagnosis of the issue.

Hi @lauralgb7369 my site is using one of the default Twenty * themes and I only have Gutenberg active, I am not having the issue you described.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles. If you can install plugins, install and activate Health Check

It will add some additional features under the menu item under Tools > Site Health. On its troubleshooting tab, you can Enable Troubleshooting Mode. This will disable all plugins, switch to a standard WordPress theme (if available), allow you to turn your plugins on and off, and switch between themes, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

This allows you to test for various compatibility issues.

@thelmachido , that was really helpful for me in further troubleshooting the issue. However, even after turning all plugins off and activating the default theme, the issue still exists. I’ve made a video recording of troubleshooting the issue at this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tXxW1kB4KyJ0V5sxB4hIL9JjEamuBxPN/view?usp=sharing

Hi @lauralgb7369 thank you for providing a thorough video explaining the issue you are having. While looking at your video I noticed a caching tool on the frontend as shown in the screenshot below.

Do you know which resource is adding this extension, I would suggest temporarily disabling that and then checking your site on a different browser using incognito mode.

@thelmachido I found out my hosting provider installed that plugin. I have since disabled and removed it. I still have the issue with the broken URLs. I went into the one post I shared and fixed the URLs. I will wait a few days, see if the issue no longer happens; and report back.

Hi @lauralgb7369 thank you for the update @lauralgb7369, let me know how it goes in a few days.

@thelmachido, this appears to have cleared up the issue as the images on my one blog post haven’t broken again after waiting a week and trying multiple times to edit the post. I am going to update the rest of my broken images at this point and mark this issue as resolved for now. I’m incredibly grateful for your help as I have been at my wit’s end.

Hi @lauralgb7369 thank you for the update, I’m glad the issue is now resolved.
