Gutenburg – Title – white space & not page content
-
1) Title box location
The title box is located at the top of the page edit area.
This title does not actually appear on the final page (unless there is some setting to show it).
This is the name of the page as seen in the address line in a visitor’s browser, and in breadcrumbs.
This is more of a document/age parameter, than a content block.
So therefore is not in the best place.Yes it may one of the first pieces of information that a user “must” supply.
But should it have to be?
Think of the name later (save the draft as some temporary name, which gets removed once the user has supplied a name, or changed the name).Other possible suitable locations might be;
a) the document parameters area
b) the top bar
b) just below the top bar, say a second line that might show context related information that changes on which block editor is being used.Consider grouping page parameters, as being distinct from block parameters.
2) Title box space occupation
The title box, and surrounding white space, occupies much of the top of the document space. This causes additional need to scroll down every time to get to the “business area” of the editor.
It would be very helpful to have the title placed off to the side, or made much smaller and take up less space.
Please try to let the content area, be occupied by the content (and editing functions).
