    Hello,

I have been trying to enable gzip for my (very slow) site for quite some time now. Whenever I open up the plugin it says’ Gzip is not enabled :(‘. It goes on to tell me that I could save over 80 percent by using Gzip.
After clicking the ‘enable gzip compression’ box it will say ‘You’re blessed, Gzip is enabled’. However, when I go to check if it’s really enabled on https://checkgzipcompression.com it will tell me it’s not enabled. I’m inclined to believe this because my site is still very slow.

When I go back to the plugin, it will once again tell me that gzip is not enabled.

I hope you can help me, I have been fiddling with this for days now!
    Thanks in advance,

    Milan

    Hi Milan,

Can you post the contents of the debug link on the bottom of the gzip page? That could help me a bit.

    Eric

the Site is ruined after enabling and after it says to me that it isn’t enabled and cannot be enabled eather diasable it.

ok, I just delete from .htaccess the “# BEGIN GZIP COMPRESSION BY RICHARD’S TOOLBOX
    # END GZIP COMPRESSION” lines

    Hi @unilien,

What is your domain? So I can do some checks,

    Eric

I have the same problem: I enable Gzip compression using the plug-in, I’m told it’s enabled, next time I look at Gzip compression plug-in it tells me Gzip compression is not enabled, so I enable it again…

    Here’s the debug info.
    isApache: 1 (Apache/2.4.25)
    enabled: 1
    enabled-htaccess: 1
    plugin: 1.1.7

My domain is christianboyce.com. Thank you for your help. I really want to turn compression on!

Could you try without checking the extra box for using compression for images etc.?

That did it! I had misread the text next to the extra box– I thought I HAD to check the box before enabling compression. Now I see I did not. Thank you for your help and your plug-in.
