    Hi,

I have read all the existing suppor threads on the same page. None of the recommendations helped remove the Inactive message in the Hummingbird settings page.

    Things I have tried:

    1. Manual .htaccess edit
    2. Contact HostGator support
    3. Enabled compression on Cpanel
    4. Set zlib.output_compression = On in the php.ini

I am using Php 7.1. Plugin version 2.2.2.

    Could you help?

Hey there @hamimdev I’m really sorry for the inconvenience on this one.

    – Are you adding the htaccess rules in the file located in the root folder of your WordPress install?

    – Are you using any other caching plugin? If that’s the case, could you please try deactivating the other plugin in order to try activating the compression again?

    Regards,

    Jorge

    – Yes. Certainly.
    – No. Only Hummingbird.

    Thanks. ??

    Hi @hamimdev,

GZIP Compression is something that is handled by your server, Hummingbird tries to apply the rules to enable it but it’s up to your server to allow these changes.
You mentioned that you contacted HostGator about this, can you tell us what their response was?
Can you check with them if they allow GZIP to be enabled via .htaccess access if they don’t can they enable this for you or allow the rules from .htaccess to be applied?

    Cheers,
    Predrag

They confirmed that it is enabled. Yes they do allow. And it is already enabled on th server side.

    Hi @hamimdev,

Please post a link to your site, so I can manually check.

    Best regards,
    Anton

    @hamimdev,

Gzip compression is enabled. Have you tried clicking “Re-check status” button?

    Best regards,
    Anton

I had clicked on the recheck button it was the same result UP UNTIL NOW. I have tried again after your suggestion and ALL GREEN. No idea what fixed it. I wish I knew…
