GZIP enabled on server for the “image/svg+xml” file type

    Hi,

    Thanks for the great plugin ??

    I’m looking into using SVG’s on my site for logo, etc. I read that “if you have never used SVGs before, ensure you have GZIP enabled on your server for the “image/svg+xml” file type.”

    According to my hosting service, “The GZIP module is already enabled on the server, to compress them add this in .htaccess.” I don’t see GZIP or svg in my .htaccess, but you guys take care of that right???

    BUT I can’t seem to figure out how to find / do this in WP admin:
    “gzip Compression section of the WebAdmin console (Configuration > Server > Tuning). You first must make sure Enable Compression is set to Yes”

    In summary, my end goal: have GZIP enabled on my server for the “image/svg+xml” file type. Help!

    what is “this” ?

    that should be the code you need to enable gzip the file type you need

    Honestly, @qtwrk knows more about GZIP than I do. But in case you misunderstood his reply, let me rephrase it:

    Your hosting service told you “The GZIP module is already enabled on the server, to compress them add this in .htaccess.”

    Was there anything else that they said? It looks to us, like they were telling you to add a particular piece of code to your .htaccess file. Did they provide that code to you? When they say “add this in .htaccess” what “this” are they referring to?

    If you can answer that, it should solve your issue!

    I was confused about who should be making those changes to my .htaccess file. No, they didn’t mention what to do before, although I just followed up, and they did now. So I should be good.
