h1 and h2 tag problem

Hi there,

GP follows the standard Heading hierarchy that is:

On Single Posts and Pages the title is displayed as H1..
On the blog or archive pages where there are many articles being displayed the title uses a H2.

This is semantically correct as each page should only have 1 x H1, and each section/article on a page should begin with a H2.

so what i did, my web page title is h1, all post titles are h2, subheadings of each post comes under h3… is this alright?

in a SEO software says that “our page contains too many H2 tags. H2 tags should re-inforce the related content of your page to search engines – too many tags may make the topic less clear, or look like spam tactics. Consider using less than 10 H2 tags.”

Can you share a link to a page where your SEO software is complaining there are too many H2s ?

There is no issue with that page.

The Site Title is the H1 – Correct.
And each post article that is a H2 – Correct.

This is like the vast majority of blogging websites.

On your single post.

When you add a Content Title in the editor the theme will output it as a H1 see here:

Now in your post content you should add H2 headings for each section.
You only add H3 after a H2

For example:

H2 I am section one of the post
— H3 I am a sub section of this section

H2 I am another section of this post
— H3 I am a sub heading of this section
—- H4 i am sub-sub heading of the section
— H3 Another H3

H2 And another sub section

Its exactly the same as if you were writing an Essay.
